DESCRIPTION:May 13-16\, 2026\nRosy Simas\, of the Seneca Nation’s Heron c
lan\, calls herself a “transdisciplinary” artist. A:gajë:gwah dësa
’nigöëwë:nye:’ (i hope it will stir your mind) confirms it. The cul
mination of a two-year residency at Minneapolis’s esteemed Walker Art Ce
nter\, the work will take up both the center’s museum and its theater. I
n the museum\, Simas’s installation (through July 5) invites us to enter
and settle on the sturdy oak benches—modeled on those from Senecan long
houses—around its centerpiece\, an array of exquisite bottles and jugs w
oven from cornhusks and suspended from the ceiling. More cornhusks\, dried
and flattened to resemble large bone-white leaves\, decorate a wall. The
installation’s objects are in light shades\, the sound score twitters wi
th birdsong—the gallery exudes peace. As does the dance. A:gajë:gwah d
ësa’nigöëwë:nye:’ (i hope it will stir your mind) “weaves a mind
of peace into every aspect of its creation—every stitch of the set\, ev
 ery movement\, sound\, and image.”
