Robert Wun’s grandmother was the inspiration behind “Armour,” his Autumn-Winter 2021 collection. She died last year, and Wun “wanted to create an army to go to heaven with her.” The result: heavy pleats, sculptural bodices, formidable thigh-high boots. Since Wun launched his label in 2014, at just 21 years old, he has favored sharp and futuristic silhouettes. The work of this Hong Kong-born, London-based designer is now on view in a museum exhibition—an unusual honor for one just eight years into his career. The show includes Wun’s armor-like peplums and harnesses along with commissions from his celebrity clients: Billy Porter, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Celine Dion, and many more. —J.D.
