“Sometimes I like when the gestures disappear—the brushstrokes, and gestures disappear,” Rita Ackermann told The Observer in 2013, speaking of her paintings, “and it’s more just a well-conducted chaos of stains.” Something is definitely happening in Ackermann’s art, where pale planes of drawn imagery are ignited, imploded, by color.
