Ringo Starr: Annual Birthday Benefit

YouTube / Online / Music

Ringo Starr is known to keep a low profile, but he makes an exception on his birthday and holds a charity benefit every July 7. This summer, in celebration of his 80th, a virtual concert takes the place of Starr’s usual in-person bash. It’s “an hour of music and chat,” says Starr, and it unites his fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow, Gary Clark Jr., and others for a mix of live-streamed performances and old footage. Proceeds go to several organizations that Starr supports, including the Black Lives Matter Global Network. —J.V.
