Jane Morris, Emma Jones, Annie Miller, and Queen Moon of them all Elizabeth “Lizzie” Siddall—the Pre-Raphaelite artists loved and lionized their muses. In this day and age, however, the word muse smacks of reduction and exploitation, especially seeing that muses, both past and present, are often artists themselves. The painter Piotr Uklanski has summoned the Pre-Raphaelite women from their graves so as to portray them in greater complexity. The show is curated by Dodie Kazanjian. —L.J.
