Uluru is the most mesmerizing slab of ferrous limestone under the Southern Cross. For this first-ever, possibly once-in-a-lifetime aria fest on this sacred site, stars of Opera Australia are laying on glazed chestnuts like Carmen’s Habanera, the Flower Duet from Lakmé, and “Nessun dorma.” Nevertheless, listeners may well head home whistling the scenery.
