Rents are high. Space is scarce, competition is cruel. And yet they still come to New York City. “They” is young artists in every known discipline—and some unknown ones, too. Manhattan’s newest large-scale venue for culture and the arts, The Shed, showcases the city’s early-career artists in the series “Open Call,” which runs from June 3 to August 1. The works are commissioned and receive robust production support. The Shed is two blocks west of Penn Station, and for the artists of Open Call, it’s an arrival. Check the The Shed’s Web site for the full schedule. —L.J.
