DESCRIPTION:Jul 14 - Oct 18\, 2026\nOdilon Redon (1840–1916) spent the fi
rst half of his career making charcoal drawings and lithographs filled wit
h extraordinary darkness: floating eyeballs\, severed heads with aureoles\
, creatures with the body of a fish and the head of a man. In the second h
alf\, he made pastels of almost unbearable luminosity\, with fields of flo
wers in colors that seemed to come from somewhere outside the visible spec
trum. In both cases\, he was trying to portray the world that lies just be
yond what the eye can actually see. The Getty Center is presenting a focus
ed selection of Redon works from its own collection. The show includes cha
 rcoals\, lithographs\, and pastels drawn from religion\, mythology\, liter
 ature\, and modern science.
