“No photos please!” That’s the mantra that has characterized Berlin club culture since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Sven, the infamous doorman at Berghain, tells people using cellphones to “go home and play on Facebook.” With rare photography and film footage, this exhibition looks into the mysterious night life behind Berlin’s closed doors. And if you stay late enough, the gallery becomes a club and you are part of the scene. —E.C.
