Vincent van Gogh said, “There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” The Georgian painter Niko Pirosmani would likely agree. Self-taught, a roving artist who traded his paintings for food, Pirosmani depicted barns, taverns, and modest scenes of everyday life. This exhibition of 30 Pirosmani paintings and six Van Goghs celebrates the work of two artists, both nomadic, who embraced the quotidian. —C.J.F.
