“I am fascinated by the process of reconstructing in great detail small everyday moments,” Nicolas Feldmeyer says of the images he creates, “the evening sun on a brick courtyard, or the trees at the end of the park, familiar scenes that seem to say something very clear to me, although I never know exactly what.” The videos and digital spaces he constructs often reflect this uncertainty, and all have a surrealistic touch, with their soft lines and hazy skies. Feldmeyer’s digital installation Empty Pool allows one to explore the pool and the elegiac grounds that surround it. In these days of pandemic, it’s hard not to see it as a stone casket, open to the world. —E.C.
