When Metrograph opened in New York City’s Lower East Side in 2016 it quickly joined the ranks of Film Forum, Quad Cinema, and Anthology Film Archives, small havens where movie enthusiasts could catch niche and archival films. Now, virtual screenings from Metrograph kick off with Nan Goldin’s new video work, Sirens, and two Super 8 mm films by Vivienne Dick. Other offerings include a live screening of Michael Roemer’s Jim Crow-era film Nothing But a Man, introduced by Goldin; a retrospective of work by the anime filmmaker Satoshi Kon; and a 10th-anniversary live screening of Damani Baker and Alex Vlack’s documentary on Bill Withers. —J.V.
