DESCRIPTION:Feb 6 - May 25\, 2026\nOvid’s Metamorphoses may be 2\,000 yea
rs old\, but the narrative poem remains completely relevant\, especially f
or those in the arts. In 1604\, the Dutch painter Karel van Mander called
the work a “Bible for artists.” Written in 8 A.D.\, the Metamorphoses
contains over 200 stories set between the world’s creation and the rise
of Julius Caesar\, and exploring themes of transformation involving vindic
tive gods and mighty heroes. In a special collaboration with Rome’s Gall
eria Borghese\, the Rijksmuseum exhibition “Metamorphoses” brings toge
ther over 80 works by artists who include Caravaggio\, Bernini\, Bourgeois
 \, Brancusi\, Magritte\, Rodin\, and many more.
