DESCRIPTION:Sep 10\, 2026 - Mar 7\, 2027\nMaurizio Cattelan has built his c
areer on fun. His hijinks include: crashing his gallery’s booth at the C
ologne Art Fair with a sign saying he was closed for business\; renting ou
t his exhibition space to an advertising agency\; and faking his own retir
ement for a decade. The art he produces is in the same register. There’s
Him (2001)\, a 40-inch sculpture of Hitler kneeling. And the taxidermized
horses suspended from ceilings and walls. And the 18K-gold toilet install
ed in the Guggenheim’s bathroom and titled America (2016). Cattelan’s
first major solo exhibition in Germany brings together the seminal works H
im\, Novecento\, and La Rivoluzione Siamo Noi (2000) as well as new commis
sions conceived specifically for Mies van der Rohe’s glass hall.
