A Monthly Culture Matrix For the Cosmopolitan Traveler

Steppenwolf Theatre Company / Chicago / Stage

Steppenwolf has teamed up with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the Grammy-winning South African choral group, for another world-premiere musical. Their 1993 collaboration resulted in the landmark production, The Song of Jacob Zulu, written by Tug Yourgrau and directed by Eric Simonson. This time, Simonson both writes and directs. Lindiwe is a love story that moves from Chicago’s bluesy Kingston Mines to South Africa. The new musical promises killer tunes and a story line to match. —J.V.
