Lin Jing: FEI—Part II

Pékin Fine Arts / Hong Kong / Art

“Making art shouldn’t equal making a living,” says Lin Jing of her practice, “making art should be a way of living.” Always challenging the norms, Lin Jing paints freely—applying color with her hands. Swathing large canvases in the browns and greens of landscapes, the oranges and reds of flowers, she then shapes the color with various tools. Some of the canvas appears thickly covered, other areas thinly washed, or brushed and overlaid. There isn’t a pattern. Lin Jing’s pieces reflect the way she has chosen to live. —E.C.
