When Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo first appeared on the horizon, in 1974, there were those who filed it under Camp, Lampoon, and Satire. But this troupe of male ballerinas was also Analytical, Insightful, Loving, and, yes, Reverent. Certainly the 70s—that decade of the great dance boom!—was a perfect time to launch the comic company. Quality has kept it going strong. Les Ballets Trockadero comes to the Joyce this season with a new work by Peter Anastos, one of the company’s founders. It’s called Nightcrawlers and it takes its inspiration from In the Night, a 1970 suite of duets by Jerome Robbins. Nightcrawlers is on Program A, along with Swan Lake Act Two and Valpurgeyeva Noch. Program B contains a yet to be announced premiere and other Trock classics. —L.J.
