A spooky spa? Do tell. A prolific French novelist (Olivier Bleys) and a no less prolific French composer (Guillaume Conneson), neither exactly a household name, have cooked up a spanking-new entertainment on this unconventional theme. The teaser promises elements of a thriller, love beyond the grave, thermal baths, and plenty of zinger repartee, served up in the style of an old-school opéra comique, which is to say a French opera with spoken dialogue. Parlez-vous français? The pit band goes by the moniker L’Orchestre des Frivolités Parisiennes, which surely needs no translation and may hint best at what to expect. —M.G.
