 ’s premier early-music series—Music Before 1800—the incoming artisti
 c director Robby Meese fields a who’s-who of international discoverers a
 nd explorers. As the diacritical mark in his series title suggests\, there
 ’s a Spanish accent to the proceedings\; but it is neglected riches from
  Latin America that come in for particular attention. The period ensemble 
 Relic leads with The Blood of the Rose (October 4)\, inspired by La Púrpu
 ra de la Rosa\, which premiered in Lima in 1701 and is reckoned the New Wo
 rld’s first home-grown opera. De la Vida Deste Mundo (December 13) marks
  the New York debut of Música Antiqua Latina\, a Roman consort dedicated 
 to Italo-Hispanic artists of the Renaissance and Baroque who made their ca
 reers in Italy. The Virgin Mary is the focus for ModernMedieval Voices\, a
 n offshoot of the fabled Anonymous Four\, now disbanded (January 24). Mús
 ica Temprana\, familiar from past seasons\, returns with Baroque Song of L
 atin America (February 21). And let’s not forget concerts by the Helicon
  Ensemble (Children of Orpheus\, November 8)\, Juilliard 415 (Invention of
  the Orchestra\, April 4)\, and Paul O’Dette\, lutenist extraordinaire (
 The Knights of the Lute\, April 18). The slate of events listed above is s
 et for Corpus Christi Church\, 529 West 121st Street. The Boston Camerata
 ’s CANTIGAS: Songs of Mystic Spain—which takes literal and figurative 
 pages from the book of Spain’s 13th-century Alfonso X the Wise (1221–1
 284)\, self-styled “King of the Three Religions”—takes place “off 
 campus” at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church\, 53 Central Park West.
