DESCRIPTION:May 17\, 2026 - May 31\, 2028\n“Flatware is an intimate part
of our daily lives\,” says Darrin Alfred\, curator of architecture\, des
ign\, and graphics at the Denver Art Museum. “Yet despite the importance
of its use\, it often goes unnoticed.” This exhibition\, led by Alfred\
, spotlights cutlery design as it passed through artistic movements\, and
went from sterling silver and silver plate to stainless steel. The exhibit
ion is split into six sections that move from the curvilinear ethos of Art
Nouveau to later modernist forms—think Eliel Saarinen\, Don Wallance\,
Jens Quistgaard\, and János Megyik. Utensils made for children\, airplane
travel\, and mess kits are part of the show\, along with newly commission
ed silverware from prominent contemporary designers.
