DESCRIPTION:Sep 9 - Oct 24\, 2026\nBorn in Northern Poland\, Karolina Maszk
iewicz moved to Los Angeles in 1995. She has worked as a fashion designer
but now makes ethereal sculptures inspired by nature\, the greatest of all
designers. Seed pods\, rosebuds\, and other magical structures of flora f
ind their way into pieces both delicate and strong\, made of iron and clay
. Maszkiewicz counts the great Polish fiber artist Magdalena Abakanowicz a
s a hero\, but given the airy\, wandering suspension of her art one also t
hinks of Alexander Calder\, Joan Miró\, and Ruth Asawa. “Most of my wor
k is kinetic\,” Maszkiewicz said in 2020. “For me\, this can help tran
sfix the viewer\, creating a space for contemplation and reflection.” Th
e sculptures in this exhibition combine organic and man-made materials.
