A Monthly Culture Matrix For the Cosmopolitan Traveler

John Currin

Gagosian / Hong Kong / Art

“There’s a kind of a distortion that happens with adoration,” says John Currin. In his case, the distortion takes the form of bosomy matrons and candy-box ingénues painted in silky brushwork that has the glow of a Dutch Master. This is Currin’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong (also his first exhibition in Asia) and it features new portraits. —E.C.
