“I need a starting point,” Joan Miró once explained. “As such, a strand of thread can inspire a whole world.” He was referring, of course, to the repertoire of lines and shapes that he employed throughout his career. And not just in paintings. Graphic work—prints, posters, lithographs, plates, and proofs—were a critical part of his process and practice. The exhibition “Joan Miró. Au-delà de la peinture,” separates the artist’s graphics into four themes, all pointing to how Miró became, well, Miró. —E.C.
