“If you just buy one beautiful thing every year,” said the late Jack Lenor Larsen, “you’ll soon find that you have beautiful things to live with.” It appears that Larsen followed this rule religiously, given the selection of art and objects on view in this unique exhibition. Larson, who died in 2020, was a master of textile design. His award-winning work was displayed at the Palais du Louvre, and his printed cotton velvets are definitive statements of midcentury luxe—flower power meets the fin de siècle. Now on view at his home on the LongHouse Reserve, Larsen’s textiles are presented alongside objects and clothing from his own private collection. Recordings of his interviews share his voice with viewers. —Ariella Paradise
