If you don’t remember the Hanson Brothers by name, you’d certainly remember their infectious bubble gum hit from 1997, “MMM-Bop.” The teen group looked like a trio of suburban skater boys—long blond hair, middle parts, baggy jeans—but they had a sweet, wide-ranging, and crystal clear vocal style reminiscent of Michael Jackson in the Jackson Five, and sugary pop-rock melodies. While the band never outgrew “MMM-Bop,” which has since become a kind of pop-culture punchline, their older music will make you nostalgic for a bygone era of teen-bopping boy bands. Their newer work is equally smile inducing. October sees their first performances in a series of virtual shows, a digitized tour. —C.J.F.
