For those who love textiles of all cultures, and particularly rugs—what used to be termed Oriental or Persian rugs, whether made in fabled Middle Eastern cities or by tribes in the countryside—Hali magazine is the glossy godhead. It is said that the advertisements in Hali can cost as much as a rug, and those ads are gorgeous. But it’s the authority of the magazine—its scholarship and opinions—that make it important. The Hali Fair is online this year. There are 30 select exhibitors, plus lectures and presentations. For those of us who could never go before, now we can—virtually! —L.J.
