The Venezuelan phenomenon Gustavo Dudamel has been making waves in Berlin with his Mahler since 2014. Each of the master’s symphonies is a world unto itself, and each of his acolytes has favorites. Still, for many, the Second, familiarly known as the “Resurrection,” possesses a particular transcendence. Clearly, Dudamel’s fans are primed for something special. As we go to press, all three performances are sold out. But Mahlerites local and international can drop in virtually for the live stream on February 26. —M.G.
