Gretchen Andrew is a self-proclaimed “internet imperialist.” She beholds the internet as a new global subconscious, and uses the search engine as an artistic medium that can be manipulated like any other. You just have to know its rules and limitations. Doing so has allowed Andrew to wittily hack Frieze, Artforum, the Whitney Biennial, and the Turner Prize. In “Other Forms of Travel,” her latest takeover, she manipulates Google search results to convey political messages about life, art, and Brexit. Her sumptuous “vision boards” are compiled from online imagery and other objects, and might also be called wall sculptures. —E.C.
