Girl from the North Country

Royal Alexandra Theatre / Toronto / Stage

Girl from the North Country is the latest example of the appeal—and the variety—of musicals based on artists’ back catalogs, and Mamma Mia! it ain’t. Here, in a guesthouse in Depression-era Duluth, Minnesota, a diverse group of folks express their inner lives through Bob Dylan’s songs. The show premiered in London two years ago and is still playing there. In 2018, it had a hit off-Broadway run at the Public Theater. Now it’s on its way to Broadway—by way of Toronto. —K.F.

The production begins previews at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre on February 7, 2020. For more information, click here.
