Leonard Cohen famously sang, “There is a crack in everything / That’s how the light gets in.” This exhibition celebrates “cracks” of a different kind—lamps and chandeliers created by Ron Arad, Achille Castiglioni, Greta Magnusson Grossman, Ingo Maurer, and other master designers. These pieces don’t just let the light in, they transform space. The first exhibition of its kind in the U.S., “Electrifying Design” examines the role of lighting in major design movements of the past century. —J.V.
