“We must ask nothing of artists but to be of their own time.” It’s hard to believe that in the U.S. there’s never been an in-depth exhibition on the Anglo-Irish designer and architect Eileen Gray. Bard Graduate Center Gallery remedies this situation with a show that features 200 works, some of them never before seen, and includes Gray’s paintings and photographs along with explorations of her Galerie Jean Désert, her collaborations with Jean Badovici, her landmark home Villa E_1027, and many of her architectural and interior projects. —L.J.
