DESCRIPTION:Jul 21 - Oct 25\, 2026\nA Hauser & Wirth outpost sits on Illa d
el Rei\, a small island in Menorca’s harbor that has a complicated histo
ry of occupation and passage. It’s been a naval base\, a British colonia
l outpost\, and a field hospital. Rashid Johnson\, who organized this summ
er’s group show there\, chose his artists accordingly. Among 28 artists
—most of whom work at the intersection of displacement\, colonial histor
 y\, and identity—are Mona Hatoum\, Rayyane Tabet\, Ali Cherri\, Firelei
Báez\, Lorna Simpson\, and Yto Barrada. The artworks populate the galleri
es and the island’s outdoor landscape. Johnson asked three of the artist
s—Báez\, Charles Gaines\, and Cristina Iglesias—to nominate additiona
l participants from outside the gallery’s roster.
