 ng into a backflip with one colleague’s shoulders as your springboard an
 d another’s as your landing pad. Swan diving into a net woven from your 
 comrades’ arms. Standing five people high on one another’s shoulders
 —a human skyscraper\, swaying and sweaty. Dressed in a variation of stre
 et clothes\, the 22 performers of Le Pas du Monde execute spectacular feat
 s of derring-do while trusting each other and being trustworthy. It’s im
 possible to decide which is more astounding—the beautiful acts or the ab
 solute commitment to an exacting ethos. As the work’s title implies\, th
 ese players are Everymen and Everywomen\, and they are also out of this wo
 rld. After the Festival d’Avignon this month\, and besides a visit to Ro
 ma Europa in October\, the 2025 production resumes its tour of France—ev
 ery provincial inch.
