At a time when Britain’s future is in upheaval—due to coronavirus variants and a troubling exit from the EU—a group of artists has come together to address themes of care and repair. Organized every five years by the Hayward Touring Gallery, the Ninth British Art Show has been curated by Irene Aristizabal and Hammad Nasar. Works are from 2015 to 2021, and topics range from politics and identity to justice—racial, social and environmental. Over 40 artists are on the roster, including the likes of Michael Armitage, Oscar Murillo, Heather Philipson, and Alberta Whittle. Workshops, activities, sound installations, and much more are part of the show. —E.C.
