DESCRIPTION:Sep 30\, 2026\nFrédéric Boucheron was never one to live by tr
adition. Born in 1830\, into a family of cloth merchants\, the designer de
fied custom at 14 to pursue an apprenticeship with the jeweler Jules Chais
 e. Boucheron fell in love with precious jewels\, using his background in d
rapery to reinvent the craft and improve its wearability. Breakthrough cam
e in 1879\, with the revolutionary clasp-free Point d’Interrogation\, or
Question Mark necklace. For the first time\, women could put on their jew
els unaided. The change was symbolic: women were breaking free from constr
aining 19th-century customs.”High Jewelry has always been an art form\,
” says Boucheron CEO Hélène Poulit-Duquesne. “A way of turning emoti
on into something you can wear.”A pioneer\, Boucheron was the first to o
pen a boutique-turned-flagship on Place Vendôme. The year was 1893. He dr
ew inspiration from the natural world\, shaping likenesses of ivy\, blosso
ms\, and bird feathers into jewelry that fit the women he dressed\, not th
e other way around. Boucheron’s passion for expansion and innovative cra
ftsmanship continued through four generations\, though it wasn’t until 2
024 that his Maison arrived stateside on Madison Avenue in New York.Now\,
for 10 days\, Boucheron joins forces with Christie’s at Rockefeller Plac
e to bring the brand’s inventive creations—pieces like the Question Ma
rk—to an entirely new audience. The exhibition traces the company’s in
genuity through four distinct chapters: couture\, nature\, architecture\,
and innovation. It also debuts this year’s Carte Blanche collection\, wh
ich is dedicated to the grandeur of the human form that Boucheron himself
revered. The collaboration marks a defining moment in the vision Frédéric
Boucheron first established in 1858. “To share that art in New York\, a
nd to do so alongside a house like Christie’s\, whose eye and expertise
we hold in the highest regard\, is a true honor\,” says Poulit-Duquesne.
