The 31-year-old playwright Jordan Tannahill is a big Canadian talent who is not resting on his laurels at home but has moved abroad to test his talents (he now lives in London). Botticelli in the Fire—a drama about the Florentine painter, set in the year 1482—was one half of a theater double-bill that won Tannahill the most esteemed arts prize in Canada: the Governor General’s Award. Director Blanche McIntyre is a match in terms of youth and achievement on the English theater front. —K.F.
