On December 3, 2020, Netflix released the fourth season of Big Mouth, an animated series that takes a humorous and deeply sympathetic look at adolescence. As the characters grow, they are confronted by their own personal hormone monsters, furry mentors who encourage crazy behavior—for instance, scream crying at your mom for no reason—and shepherd them through the weirdness of growing up, from menstruation to unpredictable libidos. Each season, the monsters help their charges battle new complications—the Shame Wizard, the Depression Kitty—and the fourth season promises to follow in this tradition. Nick Kroll, Jason Mantzoukis, Maya Rudolph, and John Mulaney are just a few of the very funny names attached to the show, and this season welcomes Ayo Edebiri, who ranks among today’s best comedians. —C.J.F.
