According to Norman Mailer, Bella Abzug’s voice could “boil the fat off a taxicab driver’s neck.” The same might be said of Harvey Fierstein, who uses his Abzug-esque voice and drag expertise to play the titular character in Bella, Bella, a one-woman show he happens to have written. Abzug would likely approve. The Congresswoman’s flamboyant style—countless hats—was as head-turning as her feminist, progressive politics. —C.J.F.
