Remember Beanotown? At school, Dennis and Gnasher and Minnie the Minx (members of the Bash Street Kids) made a right ruckus. Of course, the terrible Teacher and his wife, Mrs. Teacher, were there to crack the whip. “Stupid rules!,” Minnie once said, “If I had my way there’d be only one—that there are no rules!” The Beano comics that animated many a child’s life are the subject of this exhibition, which has raided the archive for original artwork and delightful artifacts. —E.C.
