On the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s birth, the proms delve into Victoria’s taste in music. Felix Mendelssohn, her favorite composer, is represented by his Symphony No. 3, Scottish, and the Piano Concerto No. 1—to be played on Victoria’s own piano! Also on the program are songs written by her beloved husband Albert, and the concert suite of a ballet called Victoria and Merrie England. —L.J.
