A Monthly Culture Matrix For the Cosmopolitan Traveler

Asia Week

Various venues / New York / Art

The Princeton curator Zoe S. Kwok calls Asia Week “the most important annual event in Asian art outside of Asia.” This year’s edition, the 12th, brings together galleries at Rockefeller Center (virtual viewing is also available). From bronze Shang Dynasty vessels to contemporary Indian paintings, works on view span all epochs and categories of South and East Asian art. Alongside the exhibits, six auction houses—Bonhams, Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Doyle, Heritage Auctions, and iGavel—are mounting sales. Highlights include a rare Lamdre-lineage painting of Sakya masters; a rare blue-and-white lotus vase; a gold-and-bronze vessel from the Ming Dynasty; and mesmerizing dishes. —E.C.
