Arts of Asia Galleries Reopen

Brooklyn Museum / New York / Art

“The more you know of your history,” wrote the late poet Maya Angelou, “the more liberated you are.” The Brooklyn Museum’s newly installed Arts of China galleries feature works by contemporary artists of Chinese descent alongside Chinese masterworks spanning 5,000 years. The Museum is also reopening its Arts of Japan gallery, which covers over 2,000 years. This comes after a multiyear renovation. Galleries for arts of South Asia, Buddhism, Southeast Asia, and the Himalayas to follow. —J.V.
