Artists are expected to be creative arbiters of their time, but in the case of Sarah Sze—the first participant in a Gagosian series that will highlight a new artist and artwork each week—it’s almost as if she had a handle on the times before they fully materialized. Sze’s chaotic, colorful art, ranging from painting and sculpture to installation works, takes as its theme technology and the proliferation of information. Sze’s art at once speaks to the sudden turn our lives have been forced to take, and encourages us to think bigger than the bad news zooming into our brains at all hours of the day. —J.V.
