First presented at the MASP in 2015, this exhibition surveys two centuries of French art. It starts with 18th-century neoclassical artists, moves to the Romantic school, then Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, and finishes with Cubism of the 20th century. The curators pay special attention to social, political, and economic issues as they evolved over these 200 years. How did the issues shape artists? How did the artists shape each other? The exhibition is now available in virtual format. —E.C.
