The international art collective teamLab is taking over the Newark Museum of Art in honor of animals. The vision is to bring creatures from around the world into the gallery spaces of an art museum. Given that real lions, tigers, and bears might not mix so well with historic artifacts, teamLab is using technology to create an interactive experience that allows museumgoers to explore the Earth’s three primary ecosystems: land, water, and air. Swim through a massive digital ocean or take a dip in the wall-to-wall interactive aquarium. Not into water? Explore cave walls with historical depictions of animals. Finally, take to the air and fly with animated versions of Audubon’s famous illustrations. —C.M.
