“To sing opera, one needs two things,” Andrea Bocelli has said. “The voice and the passion.” Throughout his long career the Italian tenor, 61, has lavished both on a catalogue of international operatically-inflected pop classics, perhaps most memorably exemplified by one of the first, “Con Te Partirò.” For aid to victims of the coronavirus, which has hammered his native country especially hard, Bocelli has already raised more than $100,000. And on Easter, he sends his plangent, hopeful voice into the homes of millions in a concert to be streamed live from Milan’s empty Duomo Cathedral. —J.V.
