Amy: Beyond the Stage

Design Museum / London / Music

Amy Winehouse—otherwise known simply as “Amy”—died at the untimely age of 27, but her expressive contralto made her one of the music world’s most hailed artists. Winehouse loved jazz, but also took inspiration from Dinah Washington and Mark Ronson, 60s pop and Motown. Her style, too, was eclectic—the signature eyeliner, the long black hair, the eccentric outfits. Expect all things Amy from this exhibition, including her blue Daphne Fender guitar, personal diaries, and the outfits she wore in iconic performances. Many of these items have never before been exhibited. —E.C.
