This program pairs Franz Schubert’s incomparable Cello Quintet with Bruce Adolphe’s Are there not a thousand forms of sorrow, composed for the same unusual configuration of two violins, viola, and two cellos. (Adolphe is perhaps best known as the composer of the phenomenally inventive “Piano Puzzler” of the popular radio program Performance Today.) —M.G.
